Salary: £16,000 per annum (£26,667 Full-Time Equivalent)
Location: Peterborough, Cambridge (Hybrid working)
Contract: One-year fixed term, part-time (22.5 hours per week, 3 days per week)

Bid Writer Job Overview

We are seeking a Bid Writer with experience in the tendering process, ideally within the security sector, though this is not essential. This role is crucial to achieving our strategic goals by securing major new business and client tenders. As a Bid Writer, you will craft compelling written and visual content for commercial proposals, formal tender processes, and negotiations. Reporting to the COO, you will collaborate with the management team to coordinate, prepare, write, and submit tenders/bids to win new business.

This fixed-term role is for one year, requiring 22.5 hours per week with flexible working hours. It is primarily remote, with an expectation of attending the Peterborough office twice a month. Necessary equipment will be provided.

Main Objectives

  • Develop a deep understanding of our business and corporate credentials to assist in completing bids.
  • Take ownership of bids, collaborating with stakeholders to meet deadlines.

Bid Writer Requirements

  • Experience in bid/proposal writing within a corporate commercial environment.
  • Advanced MS Word skills and proficiency in MS Office.
  • Excellent written communication skills with high attention to detail.
  • Proven track record in developing successful proposals.
  • Flexible and committed to meeting client and internal deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and workloads.
  • A strong team player who utilises best bid practices to deliver compliant and compelling bids.
  • Ability to provide best practice advice and insights from past proposals, including client feedback.
  • Skill in developing proposal structures that consider tender requirements and evaluation criteria.
  • Proficient in editing and proofreading documents to ensure compliance, compelling content, grammatical accuracy, and optimal formatting.
